1986 Regal looking for limited slip diff for cheap.?

My friends looking for a limited slip or posi for his 1986 regal. Will a rear axle from a GM truck fit back there? Im aware that some of them had a limited slip (my dads 88 suburban does, i dont think the 94 silverado does though) if so, which ones are the easiest to swap in? or would it be easier to just swap diffs and not the whole axle? either way, he wants to retain the 5-lug hubs.

...and why is there no segment for Buicks?

Buick Century

Chevrolet Malibu

Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Oldsmobile Cutlass

Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme

Pontiac Grand Am

Pontiac Grand Prix These cars share the same platform as the regal. You should have your local scrap yard check for a limited slip diff from one of the cars. This should be a direct swap.Best of luck.

Reply:One of our associates who knows GM cars said that this particular GM body type (first G-Body) was pretty common. This means that the Buick Regal and Grand National, Chevrolet El Camino, Malibu, Monte Carlo, Oldsmobile Cutlass, Pontiac Bonneville, Grand Prix, and LeMans should all have interchangeable parts. He suggests that you see if you can find a limited slip from one of these models in a junk yard, and said it will be be a bolt in. Our associate said that a truck rear end might be a little heavy duty and require some modifications to make fit properly.
