How do I reprogram the instrument panel on a 2000 chevy cavalier after it has been unhooked?

if you just unplug it for whatever reason then plug it back in you shouldn't need to reprogram it but if for some reason it does need to be reprogramed then the dealership is the only place that can do it you need a gm specific computer to do it that dealerships only have as far as I know
