Headers and horsepower?

http://www.autoanything.com/exhausts-muf...

they say that if i buy these headers i will get around 10 to 20 more horsepower is that saying if i just change the headers or if i have a cat-back system along wiht it? thanks will it still help if i just replace da headers?

thanks
Headers and horsepower?
just the headers, the cat back'll probably squeeze out about 10 or so along with it though. but it would be better though to true dual it.
Headers and horsepower?
Bolt-on parts don't increase horsepower by that much unless your current one is very restrictive. I'd say typical bolt-on's will only increase your horsepower by 2 or 3 only. Their description is just a marketing ploy.

Only by combining that bolt-on with other bolt-on's, such as intake and exhaust, will you get to around 10ish more horsepower.

You'd need to go forced induction (supercharger, turbocharger, or NOS) if you want a big jump in horsepower.
Reply:headers are usually worth around 8 to 15 horse exhaust really depends oin the manufacturer...flowmasters are worthless by the way...u want at least mid length headers shortys arnt even worth it...and id go with borla or spintech...or flo pro..for powerthere are thers but those are a few of the better ones..u can google them all..plus auto anything is kinda over priced
Reply:you,ll still get a gain from it,but not as much if you go with duals all the way back on it,headers are meant to be put on with duals, running them back to a single exhaust wont help that much you,ll only get about a 10-12 horse power gain from them,if that, that will defeat the purpose of adding headers to it to begin with,it will hold them back more, the gain they speak of it meant when duals are added to it also, but they will help on single exhaust, just not as much, good luck with it.
Reply:10 to 20 more horsepower? I'm not to sure about that.... This aint the 60's anymore where a horsepower increase can easily be seen when swapping headers for restrictive exhaust systems in the old days... Now a days any horsepower increases have to be part of a comprehensive package ---- Those headers will NOT give you 20 horsepower unless the exhaust system is changed to a performance system, maybe a less restrictive intake..... Better grade of plugs and a few other things.... Unless you really need that extra horsepower I would forget the headers idea and get a performance exhaust system....... Cat backs and tail pipes... AND whatever you do - dont screw around with the O2 sensors or any other part of the emissions systems... A check engine light will come on and this can be expensive to sort out.... Get a quality system that will let you use all of your emissions controls......
Reply:Headers are still the least costly horse power. That gibson header will give you an honest 10hp by itself. Before any hot rodding is done. Decide what you want from your truck, then start with a computer performance program. So you can tune your monies worth out of the parts you add. A laptop is all you'll need to retune and reprogram your truck. It's like this two weeks ago a guy sais I had to much carb on my 440 at the drag stripe.

I said I need more camshaft. I knew what I wanted but had to up grade one part at a time. Thats hot rodding.
