What would cause a 2005 Chevy Monte Carlo to shake when applying brakes?

The brake pads are only 1 yr old. Car drives normal until I put on the brake and then the car shakes real bad. I think It is coming from the rear of the car. I dont know if it is the brakes or a tie rod or ball joint. This has been going on for about 6 months and seems to be getting worse.

Warped rotors are usually the problem. They will continue to get worse over time.

You can have the rotors 'turned', where they shave the rotors flat again. This can work one or two times depending on the severity of the warpage.

Yep, I agree with Boogie ... warped rotors are the main culprit for your braking dilemna.

You can either have them turned or you can get a new set of rotors.
