1996 Grand Am Engine Problem Please Help!?

The engine will still run but it knocks a little bit and spits out smoke on the rear end. It also acts like it doesn't have very much power. What could this be? How can I look to see what it is?

Sounds like it may have a 4 cyl-quad 4 style of trouble plagued engine.

No! Need to look! You blow the engine up/ One it knocking. Not post to do that. It means loose parts on the inside of the engine. That really to come apart and do more damage. This kind of damage come from to many RPM's babie. And day cars that are America are not hot rods.

2 The smoke out of the back. You didn't say what color. And color means a lot. Black smoke is unburn gas. White is water. And Blue is engine oil. Most likely you have all three.

I hope you have very deep pockets. Meaning money! If what left of your engine can be rebuild? If you want to drage again. Cause you be doing this again and again. A new motor stock is about $3500.oo to $5000.oo. A race motor run about $10.000.00 to $50,000.00. So how deep are your pocket.
