my mom has a 1999 escort just reciently started having problems with it when it shifts from 1-2 it slips we did buy a used one out of a auto slavage yard and the tranny did the same thing any help.has any one else had this problem.we replaced the filter and that seemed to help but then yesterday it started acting up again.

It depends on the mileage and the kind of driving you do (e.g. stomp the gas as opposed gently accelerate)
One thing that you couu changed do is check the level of trans fluid. Gears one and two get the most use out of the torque converter and thus need the right amount of oil pressure. i you changed the filter and it stopped the problem, then maybe you are just low on fluid. If you change the filter again and this alleiviates the problem temporarily, but starts acting up again, I would consider taking it to a reputible shop to have a diagnostic run on it.
