1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee stalling problems?

This usually happens after Jeep has sat for hours. It will miss and shut off at low speeds and do the same at 50 mph but will refire and backfire. I changed the fuel pump module, no help, then I changed plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor switch, it then burnt the #1 and #2 pistons. Had motor rebuilt. They say they checked computer and I had exhaust pressure checked and changed muffler because backfires destroyed it and blew half the fins out of catalytic converter. Still doing it most days. This same Jeep used to stall out with 1/4 tank of fuel when taking left turns but since has quit that one. This Jeep has 154k miles on it now. I bought it with 50k and it has been dependable until now.

If the car is on duel fuel Petrol%26amp;Lpg gas the teminals on the switch that changes it from petrol to gas for example are faulty

then it will be trying to run on both fuels at the same time

If it is fuel injected the throttle body might just need a clean
Reply:You need to replace the ignition coil and the Dist, pickup. The coil is going bad and it's fried the pickup. The reason it backfires on restart is fuel that got injected after you lost fire.

It sits in the head pipe and ignites from the fire coming from the head into the head pipes.
